 Positions Available in Our Research Department

Research Agronomist, North Central Research Station

The North Central Research Station is a 500 acre research facility for testing of crop nutrients on field and specialty crops.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  1. Manage implementation, maintenance, in-season data collections, and harvest of replicated research test plots involving different fertility inputs on a variety of crops including: corn, soybeans, winter wheat, oats, sugarbeets, edible (dry) beans, and turfgrass.
  2. Be responsible for statistical data analysis and interpretation.
  3. Write up the results of field experiments in a research report.
  4. Develop data-supported marketing pieces.
  5. Plan and implement field demonstrations for product support to growers and company sales personnel.
  6. Be able to provide technical product support to growers and company sales personnel.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Field trial experience with replicated plots, so experience with plot design and layout is required.
  2. Masters or Ph.D in agronomy/crop science. Would accept applicants with a Bachelors degree provided there is demonstrated experience with field plot research and statistics.
  3. Ability to independently operate farm machinery: especially tractors, planters, tillage equipment, sidedress applicator, self-propelled sprayer, and the like. Knowledge of GPS guidance (Greenstar) would be beneficial.
  4. Farm background would be beneficial.
  5. As a visible representative of the North Central Research Station, applicant should be comfortable with speaking to grower groups, and on the telephone to callers.
  6. Applicant should be capable in Microsoft Office.

Duties:

Unload incoming materials: check identification, report shortages or damage, move, store, stack, and arrange. Move materials between departments: follow routing or tickets to fill orders from storage, stock or other departments.

Load materials for shipping: Operate a power lift truck, hand truck, dolly, or other device. Maintain quality and quantity records of incoming materials.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain product load samples (raw & finished)
  • Unloading, moving and storing incoming materials
  • Material identification, damage and shortage reports
  • Assist with cycle counts
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification
  • Loading product for shipment on pallets and racks

Duties:

Move materials between departments: follow routing or tickets to fill orders from storage, stock or other departments.  Unload and store incoming materials: check identification, report shortages or damage, move, store, stack, and arrange.  Load materials for shipping: place materials on pallets, trays, racks, etc., install strapping, bracing, or padding.  Operate a power lift truck, hand truck, dolly, or other device.  Maintain records of materials.  Assist plant supervisor, and snow removal as needed. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Small product packaging
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification
  • Unloading, moving and storing incoming materials
  • Material identification, damage and shortage reports
  • Moving materials between departments using routings or tickets
  • Preparing product for shipment on pallets and racks
  • Materials records

Position requires ability to stand; walk; sit; lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Position also requires Class A Commercial Drivers License with Tanker Endorsement, 2 years minimum driving experience, and good driving record.

Responsibilities – Drives gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver products or other materials. Drives local or long distance routes. May require over-night stays. May assist in loading and unloading truck. Operates a tractor trailer truck that transports cargo to and from specified destinations. Prepares, receives and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of goods to ensure timely service. Loads, secures and unloads cargo. Maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up. Maintains logs of travel and cargo according to federal and state regulations. Collects COD’s from customers when required. Washing, polishing, waxing, and performing basic maintenance duties on equipment. Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Corporate Accountant (with Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience desired) 

Job Description

Manage internal controls, general and project accounting, income tax preparation, financial reports and implement and sustain manufacturing cost metrics and product costing.

  •  Executive monthly closing, reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
  •  Analyze financial information to assist in making strategic business decisions
  •  Assist in preparation of annual budgets and forecasting
  •  Cash flow analysis
  •  Assist in A/R & A/P cost accounting activities
  •  Communicate ongoing financial standing to all levels of management
  •  Corporate tax law knowledge for preparation and filing of federal and state income tax
  •  Achieve and maintain subject matter expertise in the manufacturing aspects of the ERP system including labor overhead rates and accurate and timely reporting of significant manufacturing variances
  •  Maintain banking relationship, reporting requirements and advance warnings on covenant issues
  •  Provide financial leadership on manufacturing cost and product line financial performance
  •  Prepare and maintain accurate product cost standards in accordance with GAAP
  •  Account for fixed assets for both financial reporting and tax compliance purposes in addition to monitoring assets under construction and capitalizing

 Desired Skills & Experience

  •  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  •  3+ years of experience in accounting field with manufacturing cost accounting experience desired
