Late-Applications of Kalibrate Improve Crop Performance

Late season applications of Kalibrate have a proven yield benefit. Kalibrate combines the proven performance of AgroLiquid potassium with sulfur. In this trial from Oakley, KS, Kalibrate was pivot injected at VT. The application improved stalk strength and water usability during a peak growth period, which resulted in a 8.8 bu/A yield increase.

Additional benefits of working with Kalibrate:

  • Low use rate
  • Ease of application
  • High average return on investment
  • Mixes with UAN and many other fertilizers
  • Proven response on high potassium soils

Foliar Fertilizer on Soybeans

Research trials at the North Central Research Station (NCRS) have long shown that foliar fertilizers can push several more bushels of soybeans per acre. But like anything dealing with plant nutrition, it should be “customized” to plant and soil needs. See trial results below from the NCRS .

Because of the wet spring that we all remember from last year, these soybeans were planted late. Thanks to an extended warm and dry fall, yields were surprisingly very good. The low soil phosphorus made the application of Pro-Germinator at planting necessary. Additionally, we often have not shown a response to foliar-applied potassium if another nutrient like phosphorus is limiting, like Liebig’s Law says.

The soil potassium level was not bad, but the % Base Saturation indicated that there could be a response to added potassium. Sure-K is AgroLiquid’s best nutrient product for foliar-applied potassium, and it did result in a yield increase. FertiRain is an excellent foliar product, but is not as effective as Sure-K for feeding potassium. There has been some suggestion of yield response with foliar-applied C-Tech due to the carbon and biologicals. But there was not much response in this experiment where potassium was the missing link.

PrimAgro P® Performance in Corn

PrimAgro P combines the proven performance of AgroLiquid phosphorus crop nutrition with select bacteria species.

Corn grown using PrimAgro P at 2.5 gal/A yielded better than corn grown using competitive products at 5 gal/A.

Corn grown using PrimAgro P at 2.5 gal/A yielded 14 bu/A higher than corn grown with no phosphorus fertilizer, even in a high phosphorus environment (soil test P level = 83 ppm).

All planter fertilizer treatments applied in-furrow and included PrimAgro K (5 GPA) + Micro 500 (0.5 GPA) + Iron (0.25 GPA) + Boron (4 oz/A). All treatments received 200 lb N.

Phosphorus Fertilizers for Potatoes

Comparing Phosphorus Fertilizers for Potatoes

Effective management of nutrients is critical for potato production, as tuber yield and quality are directly impacted by source, quantity, and timing of nutrient applications. Growing healthy potato crops must also be balanced with an economical fertilizer program.

Due to Flavonol Polymer Technology, the phosphorus in Pro-Germinator is protected from tie-up (fixation) and is released to the roots over an extended period of time. Thus, the rate of application is lower than that of 10-34-0.

  • Pro-Germinator out yielded 10-34-0 even though a lower gallon per acre rate was applied (8 gal/A vs 20 gal/A)
  • The AgroLiquid treatment had 62% of the potatoes being A’s and 24% of total were B’s whereas the 10-34-0 had 57% of the total being A’s and 28% of the total being B’s.

Micronutrients Add Value

While plants use micronutrients in very small amounts, they are just as essential for plant growth as primary (N, P, and K) and secondary (S, Ca, and Mg) nutrients. Any one of them can limit growth and even cause plant death when deficient. In this example from the North Central Research Station, an application of Micro 500 and microLink Manganese increased yield by more than five bushels per acre.

Always use a complete soil test analysis to determine the nutrients needed for your situation. The image to the right is the soil test results from these research plots.

Micro 500 is an excellent micronutrient source that may be ‘spiked’ with additional nutrients to meet yield goals.

Learn More About These Products

Micro 500Micro 500 contains the essential micronutrients zinc, manganese, iron, copper, and boron. These micronutrients stimulate healthy growth in a variety of ways, and work synergistically with one another. By improving chlorophyll production and photosynthesis, Micro 500 helps to support every growth stage.

Micronutrients play a pivotal role in crop development. If micronutrient deficiencies persist year after year, they will continue to damage crops regardless of the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium applied. That’s where our microLink family of products can come in. From boron to molybdenum, we have a full line of micronutrients.

Research Supports Future Growth: Measuring Success of accesS

AgroLiquid is dedicated to proving product performance through research, both at the North Central Research Station and in field trials across the US and Canada. Seeing the proof behind AgroLiquid products helps validate the benefits and builds confidence in the field. Every few weeks the research and field agronomist teams will be sending out summarized research results to help promote AgroLiquid. Not every trial will benefit all areas, but over the next year there will be something for everyone.

This week’s Research Supports Future Growth (RSFG) shows the benefits both in yield and return on fertilizer investment from planter applications of AccesS on corn. Sulfur continues to be a big topic in the industry and plays a valuable part on a corn crop nutrition program.

AgroLiquid’s accesS applied at planting away from the seed continues to provide consistent yield increases, plus a great return on fertilizer dollars invested.

AgroLiquid provides ‘Nutrient Synergism’. What’s that?

If a soil nutrient is in short supply, you would expect a yield response when that nutrient is applied to a crop. But addressing only a single nutrient will not give optimum yield. So, the teaming up of nutrients can give a response that is greater than expected. In this example from the North Central Research Station, application of Sure-K potassium gave a yield increase of 6.8 Bu/A over that of nitrogen alone. Similarly, the application of Pro-Germinator phosphorus gave a 17.9 Bu/A increase.

Bar chart comparing in-furrow planter fertilizers for corn

When both products are applied together you would think that the yield increase would be the sum of the yield increases with the single products:

6.8 + 17.9 = 24.7 Bu/A.

But the actual increase was 29.9 Bu/A.

This is synergism where Pro-Germinator + Sure-K together produce a yield increase that is greater than the sum of the yield increases with the products applied alone.
